Her first book is Carry Me Home about a daughter who sets sail for Australia with her father to make a new life for themselves. Her father seeks the new climate for his health, while Finella is set to marry a preacher in a foreign land. Moving from England to Australia is a shock, but Finella weathers the storms of tragedy. The trials of life bring her closer to the Lord and closer to the people in the "new" land of Australia.I want to start off with something flippant like "it's a fun book, you should read it!", but it's more than just a "fun" read. It's a great story full of depth. I enjoyed Dorothy's turn a phrase and picture images to describe scenes and people. For example, she wrote "Her heart ruffled like a wind torn sail, held, yet ripped." to describe a moment in Finella's life. How beautiful and relevant when she's sailed across the world!
